Why do I need an appointment
to try on wedding gowns?
To ensure a fitting room is reserved for you and that you receive personalized guidance from our experienced bridal stylists, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment in advance.
What should I bring to my appointment?
We encourage you to bring photos of dresses you love from our website, Pinterest, Instagram. Inspiration is always helpful, but keep an open mind you may be surprised to find "The One" during your very first visit in a style you weren’t expecting! For the best experience, we also recommend bringing proper undergarments that will make you feel comfortable (i.e. strapless bra, adhesive bra, silicone pasties, spanx, etc).
Bridal appointments are scheduled for 90 to 120 minutes to ensure you have plenty of time with our stylists. We kindly ask that you arrive on time, as we have appointments scheduled before and after yours. Arriving too early is not recommended, as we may still be assisting the appointment prior to yours, and we want to ensure you receive our full attention from the moment your session begins.

Who should I bring to my appointment?
Bring the friend or family member whose opinion you value most, who knows you well & truly understands your style, and with whom you would like to share the special experience of finding your wedding gown. While it can be tempting to bring a large group, having more than 4-5 guests can sometimes shift the focus away from you and create an overwhelming number of opinions. This can make it more difficult to identify and express what YOU truly love.
How far in advance
do I need to buy my gown?
We recommend beginning your wedding dress shopping and placing your order 9–12 months before your wedding date. If you're ready to order sooner, that's perfectly fine as well. However, shopping more than 18 months before your wedding may be too early if you're not yet prepared to make a purchase. Designers can discontinue styles over time, which means you could fall in love with a gown that may no longer be available when you're ready to place your order.
All wedding gowns require some level of alterations to achieve the perfect fit! Alterations are an essential part of the bridal journey and the final step in making your gown truly yours. When you purchase your gown, we take your measurements and compare them to the designer's size chart to order the size that best matches your measurements. Once your gown arrives, alterations are needed to tailor it specifically to your body and preferences.
We are delighted to offer the services of our experienced in-house bridal seamstress, who specializes in wedding gown alterations and has helped countless brides achieve their perfect fit. While most brides choose to work with our in-house seamstress, you are welcome to use a seamstress of your choice if you already have someone you know and trust. Please note that alterations are separate from the cost of the gown and are not included in the purchase price. Since every bride and every gown are unique, alterations are a necessary part of creating the look and fit you envision for your wedding day.

What size gowns are available
for me to try on?
Our sample gowns are available in American sizes 4–22. If a gown feels too large or too small, don't worry! Your bridal consultant will help you envision the perfect fit by expertly pinning areas that are too large or using modesty panels and clips to accommodate areas that are too small.
We are also proud to offer a Curvy Collection, with sample gowns primarily available in sizes 18–30.
Keep in mind that bridal sizing differs from everyday clothing, so try not to focus on the number on the tag. Some brides find that their bridal gown size is typically one to two sizes larger than their regular dress size. The most important thing is how you feel in the gown and how beautifully it can be tailored to fit you.
We carry a selection of modest wedding gowns from our designers and are happy to help brides find a style that reflects their personal preferences and desired level of coverage. For brides looking for additional modesty features, many gowns can be customized during alterations. Our experienced bridal seamstress can discuss options such as adding sleeves, increasing coverage, adjusting necklines, and other modifications to help create the perfect look for your wedding day.

Yes! Our Pink Bow Collection features a selection of off-the-rack wedding gowns available for immediate purchase and take-home the same day. These one-of-a-kind gowns cannot be reordered, making them a wonderful option for brides shopping on a shorter timeline or seeking exceptional value. Prices typically range from $999 to $1,500, offering beautiful designer styles without compromising on quality or style.

Yes! While we do not stock bridesmaid or special occasion gowns in-store, we are an authorized retailer of Portia & Scarlett.
